How to Attract Hummingbirds to your Garden

Hummingbirds are small, fast-flying birds with brightly colored feathers. If you are close to one, you can hear the “humming” of their wings because they beat them so quickly. Hummingbirds are a beautiful sight in the garden, and can also help pollinate your flowers. By attracting hummingbirds to your garden, you are helping your garden grow while adding another pretty animal to your backyard.

Hummingbirds have a diet of mainly flower nectar and pollen. They are attracted to the colors pink and red, so by having flowers of this color in your garden you are more likely to see hummingbirds flying around. Some of their favorite flowers include Salvia, Fuchsia, Bee Balm, and Penstemon (Beard-Tongue), all which can be found at Colonial Nursery!
